Monday, November 20:

  • Congratulations to our 14 Kennedy students participating in the AYC Cheer Competition. Their hard work made it through locals, into States, Regionals, and now on to the National Competition at Disney. Good luck!
  • Congratulations to our KMS students on the 5th and 8th grade teams who won the AYF State Championship yesterday. Great work! 
  • Students as readers will meet TODAY - Monday 11/20, at lunch and after school at 2:10pm in the Library. We will be discussing our favorite book titles that have been made into movies! All students are welcome!
  • Attention Math Team Members: Practice will be held after school on TUESDAY, NOT Wednesday in room 245. We will be taking our placement test for our second competition on November 30th in Meadowbrook. If you have any questions please see Miss Buck or Mrs. Briffett. Hope to see you there!

Friday, November 17:

  • Come see THE GRUMPIEST BOY IN THE WORLD this weekend. Friday night at 7:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the door:  $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. Don't miss out on this great play for audiences of all ages!
  • This week Kennedy students earned a total of 335 ROARS. That is a new school record for the most ROARS ever earned in one week!! Excellent job!! Congratulations to 8th grader Alex for winning this week's ROAR student raffle.  
  • There will be an Interact Club meeting in Mrs. Meyers room on Tuesday November 21 after school. All are welcome!
  • Attention Math Team Members: Practice will be held after school on TUESDAY, NOT Wednesday in room 245. We will be taking our placement test for our second competition on November 30th in Meadowbrook. If you have any questions please see Miss Buck or Mrs. Briffett. Hope to see you there!


Thursday, November 16:

  • Attention all Cougar Pride Leadership Team Members: We have our monthly meeting today in the upstairs cafeteria after school. Please let an advisor know if you cannot attend.

  • Honors Wind Ensemble will rehears after school today.
  • Thank you to everyone that donated candy to the drive. We collected 462.6 pounds! We will find out tomorrow if we collected enough to win the $1000. Regardless, it was a very successful drive, and the troops receiving the candy will be appreciative. 
  • Attention all students:  Are you interested in helping to plan our school dances, spirit days, Hoopla, and other school activities? Student Council will be holding their second meeting today after school in Ms. Lemoine's room, 246. If you are interested in joining Student Council this year, please attend this meeting.   • Thank you to everyone who donated to the "Bring the Change, Beth the Change" coin drive. We collected $370.49 that will be donated to the Red Cross, specifically to help the victims of the hurricanes that hit earlier this fall in the US and Puerto Rico. A big shout out to Mrs. Porten's students for bringing in more than half of the donations! you have helped to make a difference. A big thank you to the Interact Club members who spent extra time during and after school to organize the drive, promote it and collect money.  Way to go Kennedy - let's keep bringing the change all year long! 
  • This past Saturday was the State Cross Country meet. Kennedy had two runners participate. Congrats to 7th Grader John and on his 8th place finish out of 247 runners. And also congrats to 6th grader Grady for his 21st place finish out of 293 runners!
  • A reminder to any Interact and Cougar Pride Leadership students: Tomorrow is the day we are leaf raking. If you have any, please bring a rake or leaf bag to Mrs. Meyers room tomorrow morning. Please see Mrs. Meyers with any questions. 

Friday, November 3:

  • Another great day collecting candy yesterday! We collected 113 pounds of candy which is more double of what we collected on Wednesday! Once again, the 5th grade has collected the most with 39 pounds. The 7th graders were next with 28 pounds, followed by the 8th grade with 25.6 pounds and the 6th grade with 20.8 pounds.  We still have 4 more days to collect candy. Remember, the school with the most candy collected will win $1000! 
  • This week Kennedy students earned a total of 104 ROARs. Good job! We have some awesome new prizes including Ben & Jerry's gift cards, so keep on ROARing! Congratulations to Breno for winning this week's ROAR student raffle. 
  • Attention all Interact Club and Cougar Pride Leadership team members:  Next Tuesday, November 7th, we will be walking to a home close to Kennedy to help rake leaves. We will leave at 2:10 to walk to the house. If you need to catch the late bus, you will be able to come back to Kennedy for that. If you get a ride, you can be picked up at school around 3:30pm. Please see Mrs. Meyers if you plan on coming or having any questions. Also, bring any rakes or leaf bags that you have to Mrs. Meyers room in the morning on November 7th. 


Thursday, November 2:

  • Great job on our first day collecting candy! We collected just over 49 pounds that will be sent overseas to troops. A big shout out to 5th graders who brought in a whopping 22lbs of candy! 6th graders brought in 13.2 pounds, 7th graders brought in 7.6 pounds and 8th graders brought in 6.4 pounds.  We will have 5 more days to collect candy. Remember, the school with the most candy collected will win $1000!

  • The Cougar Pride Leadership Team ants to recognize today, October 25th, 2017 as the National Bullying and Prevention Center's Unity Day. Their slogan is "together against bulling-united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion." Unity is the state of being joined as a whole. By unifying together as a Kennedy community, we make it that much harder for bullies to hurt us and our classmates. So in honor of today, we challenge you to reach out to someone new. We challenge you to help someone in need. And sometimes all it takes is a smile. See how many people you can smile at today. We are better together. 
  • Reminder to all Cross Country Runners: We will have an end of the season party today in the upstairs cafeteria. Please remember to bring your uniform.

  • Pink Day is this Friday, October 27th. Please consider wearing pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
  • Hurricane Harvey, which came ashore on August 25 as the most powerful hurricane to hit Texas in more than 50 years, has killed an estimated 50 people, displaced more than 1 million and damaged some 200,000 homes in a path of destruction stretching for more than 300 miles. The people of Texas will be re-building for a while. Bring the change to be the change so we can help! Let's fill the container with coins and dollars by October 27! Drop them off in the morning in the lobby or at lunch.

  • Imagine not having electricity. No wifi, no tv, no lights. There are people in Puerto Rico that are still without electricity due to Hurricane Maria.   • No Specialty Chorus on Tuesday this week due to teacher meetings. Specialty Chorus will meet on Thursday this week as scheduled. 
  • After school 5th Grade Saxophone help with Mr. Drapeau is cancelled tomorrow due to meetings. Saxophone lessons with Mr. Toranto will meet as scheduled. 
  • Drama Club will meet this afternoon. All are welcome. 

Friday, October 20:

  • There will be an Interact Club meeting in Mrs. Meyer's room #113 on Tuesday, October 24 at 2:05. All are welcome!
  • Field Hockey won 7-0 against Needham. Hadley, Colleen, Sofia Emma and Sage all scored
  • This week Kennedy students earned a total of 75 ROARs. Excellent job to everyone.  And now to announce this week's ROAR raffle winner: Congratulations to Brady for winning this week's ROAR student raffle. 
  • The Cross Country teams finished their season yesterday with impressionable victories over Westwood on our home course. Both the girls and boys teams crushed the opponent and...John set a new course record, beating the previous course record by over 30 seconds! Wow, nice work John!!  Our boys swept places 1 through 5 - John, Mikey, Jake Steven and Josh. In addition to John, several runners ran their personal bests for the season yesterday, which shows how much they have improved:  Logan, Aidan, Tyler, Kyle, Michael, Josh, Owen, Jeff, Brian, Gavin, Harrison, Andrew, Sam, Matt and Steven.  Our girls also crushed Westwood - Sami in first, followed by Rowan, Shea, True and Brook. Earning their personal best times for the season were: Samantha, Gauri, Angie, Shea and True. 
  • Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean and eventually Florida in early September.  Irma's winds were some of the strongest ever recorded. At its peak over the Caribbean, the storm had sustained winds of 185 miles per hour. The destruction to Florida alone caused billions of dollars of damage to homes, businesses, and roads.  Bring the change to be the change so we can help! Thursday, October 19:

  • Attention Math Team members: Today is our first meet! If you are on the list as a competitor or an alternate, please meet after school in Miss Buck's room. We will meet briefly as a team before boarding the bus. 
  • According to the Washington Post, as of September 5, 2017, Hurricane Harvey damaged 203,000 homes in Texas, of which 12,700 were destroyed. There were 738,000 people who registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  Bring the change to be the change so we can help! Let's fill the container with coins and dollars by October 27! Drop them off in the morning the lobby or at lunch. 
  • A reminder to Honors Wind Ensemble players that rehearsal is CANCELED this afternoon. We will meet as scheduled next week. 
  • Art Club will meet today after school. All spots for this session are filled. Next Art Club is November 2. 
  • Reminder to all Cross Country runners: Today is our last meet! Team t-shirts have arrived and will be handed out after school in Mr. Power's room. All runners should meet in the back field by 3:15pm in uniform. 

Tuesday, October 17:

  • Attention Math Team members: Practice will be held TODAY after school, not Wednesday, in room 245. We will be practicing for our first meet on Thursday, October 19th. be sure to bring in your permission slips! They are due today. We will be announcing competitors and alternates after we receive all permission slips. If you have any questions, please see Miss Buck or Mrs. Briffett. 
  • Field Hockey won 30- against Wellesley! Emma, Sofia and Emma scored today. Great job to Abby in goal yesterday!
  • Another exciting win yesterday by both Boys and Girls Cross Country teams at Medway! Outstanding endurance and sportsmanship was shown by runners Kait, Aidan and Josh. Placing first for our girls was Rowan, followed by Sami, Shea Angie and True. For the boys, John won in first, followed by Mikey, Steven, Jacob and Josh.  Our last meet is this Thursday at home vs. Westwood. Come cheer on your favorite Kennedy Cougar runners in the back field at 3:45!

Friday, October 13:

  • Both of our Cougars Cross Country teams crushed Medfield yesterday on our home course. Placing first for our girls was Sami, followed by Rowan, Shea, True and Brooke. For the boys, John came in first followed by Mike, Jaco, Steven, and Josh. Also having a great race was Grady who defeated his previous course time by over a minute. Julie and Samantha also conquered their course records yesterday! On Monday, we will be away at Medway - plan to change and leave right after school

  • Bring the Change...Be the Change.  The Interact Club is doing a coin drive to help the victims of hurricanes Irma, Harvey and Maria!  The goal is to fill at least one Poland Springs water jug in two weeks. Students will be in the lobby in the am and at lunches October 16-27 collecting change (and dollars!). If you have loose change, help to be the change. 
  • This week Kennedy students earned a total of 67 ROARs. Keep up the good work. Congratulations to Mateo for winning this week's ROAR student raffle.  
  • School Nurse Food Drive for Hungry Students in Worcester:  Hunger is a huge problem in the nearby cit of Worcester. Many children eat their main meal at school Monday through Friday but do nt know what or when they will be eating on the weekends. Natick's school nurses are partnering with the school nurses at Sullivan Middle School in Worcester to help them meet the needs of some of these students and their families. We will be collecting food to help supply the Sullivan Middle School Food Pantry so that students can take home food for the weekends. We are now collecting non-perishable Thanksgiving foods: Stuffing, canned corn, green beans, potatoes and yams, cranberry sauce and gravy.  Please help if you can and drop off your items in the box in front of the clinic by November 1st! Thursday, October 12:
  • Specialty Chorus will meet today after school as scheduled.
  • Field Hockey won 8-0 against Holliston yesterday. Sage, Hadley, Colleen, Sofia, Callie and Emma scored. Great job to Leah and Kate on defense yesterday! Great job!
  • Honors Winds Ensemble will meet today after school. 
  • Reminder to all Cross Country Runners to meet in the back field by 3:15pm today for our home meet vs. Medfield. If you are staying after school you must be with a teacher prior to the meet.  
  • School Nurse Food Drive for Hungry Students in Worcester:  Hunger is a huge problem in the nearby city of Worcester. Many children eat their main meal at school Monday through Friday but don't know what or when they will be eating on the weekends. Natick's school nurses are partnering with the school nurses at Sullivan Middle School in Worcester to help them meet the needs of some of these students and their families. We will be collecting food to help supply the Sullivan Middle School Food Pantry so that students can take home food for the weekends. We are now collecting non-perishable Thanksgiving foods: Stuffing, canned corn, green beans, potatoes and yams, cranberry sauce and gravy.  Please help if you can and drop off your items in the box in front of the clinic by November 1st! Tuesday, October 10:
  • There will be an Interact Community Service Club meeting in Mrs. Meyers room 113 today. All students are welcome. 
  • Specialty Chorus will not meet today after school.  Specialty Chorus will meet on Thursday as scheduled.
  • Jazz Band will meet tomorrow after school.
  • Are you interested in helping to plan our school dances, spirit days, Hoopla, and other school activities? Student Council will be holding their first meeting on Tuesday, October 10th after school in Ms. Lemoine's room 246. If you are interested in joining Student Council this year, please attend this meeting. Students in all grade levels are welcome! See Mr. Heller or Ms. Lemoine with any questions. 
  • Our Cougar Girls ran an outstanding race at Ashland, coming short of a win by one point. Finishing in order for Kennedy: Rowan, Sami, Brooke, Shea, True. Great run ladies.
