Friday, February 16:  

  • Important announcement from then nurses:  Any student who has a doctor's note physical exam in their backpack should bring it to the clinic at this time. Thank you! 
  • Sign up for the World Series of Ready today! This program is just for fun and all students are welcome to participate in the game by reading books. Teams need readers in order to hit home runs - so we need you to sign up! The sign-up sheets are posted on the wall across from the Library. Any questions, please see Mrs. R. in the Library.
  • Vacation Week Teen Center Hours at the Cole Center are February 20, from 10am-2pm. It's free. The gym and game room will be open. Please bring your own lunch-light snacks will be provided. 
  • It's Back! We are excited to announce that the 2018 Kennedy Middle School Talent Show will take place on Friday evening, May 11 at 6:30pm. Mark your calendars now so that you can join us - as a performer, a backstage helper or in teh audience. Registration forms are due back on March 2 and can be found in the Virtual Backpack with all the details. Start planning your act now!

Thursday, February 15:  

  • Hoopla, the staff vs. students basketball game, is today at 3:00pm. Tickets are $5 and will be sold during both lunches this week. If you purchase your ticket during lunch you will automatically be entered in a drawing to participate in the halftime competition. 
  • If you want to play a game at the Pep Rally, answer today's Trivia Question outside of the office:  "How many countries are competing in this year's Olympics?".
  • The girls' basketball team won their final game of the season against Wilson on Tuesday in overtime. The offense was led by Caite who sank two 3's in the last minutes of overtime to secure the lead.  The defense was led by Eni and Briar. Come support the girls and boys teams as they take on the KMS faculty today at the Hoopla. 
  • James and the Giant Peach will rehearse today directly after school until 4:30pm. All cast members should plan on attending. See Mr. Lane with any questions or conflicts.

Wednesday, February 14:

Tuesday, February 13:

  • The Girls Team lost in a tight game yesterday against Ashland. The offense was led by Kyra and Mikayla with outstanding defense from Val. The girls will play their final game today against Wilson at 3 in the gym - come support us! The Boy's Basketball team lost a close game to the Clockers of Ashland yesterday. scoring was lead by Colin with 13 points. The boys play their last game today at Kennedy against the Wildcats of Wilson!

Monday, February 12:  

  • Art Club will be meeting Thursday after school in the Art Room. There are 20 spaces available. Please sign up on Ms. Kassap's door. 
  • Drama Club will meet today. All students are welcome. 
  • Attention all Cougar Pride Leadership students. We have our monthly meeting today. Please let an advisor know if you cannot attend. 
  • Specialty Chorus will meet on Tuesday and Thursday this week as scheduled. Please see Mr. Griffin with conflicts. 
  • Congratulations to Grade 5! Over 1000 items, that's 517 pounds of food and supplies, were donated last week to the Natick Service Council Food Pantry as part of their 100th-day service project. Great work to all KMS grade 6 teams for exceeding their goals. Thanks to all the students and families that donated. Enjoy your celebration stations on Friday!

Thursday, February 8: 

  • Specialty Chorus will NOT meet today after school. Specialty Chorus will meet on Tuesday and Thursday of next week as scheduled.
  • Attention all 8th Graders!!:  There will be a town-wide dance this Saturday night for all 8th grade students from Kennedy, Wilson and private school. The dance is 7:30pm-10:00pm at the Natick High School Cafeteria. $15 cash donation at the door- proceeds to benefit the Natick High School After Prom Party. Snacks available for purchase. Be sure to come and hang out with old and new friends!!

Tuesday, February 6: 

  • 5th Grade Select Band with Mr. Drapeau is cancelled today. Instrument lessons will meet as scheduled.
  • Math Team practice will be held after school in room 245. If you have any questions, please see Miss Buck or Mrs. Briffett. 
  • There will be an Interact Club meeting today after school in Mrs. Meyers room. All are welcome. 
  • The Boys' Basketball team came up short yesterday to a very good Wellesley team. Drew and Kyle led the scoring with 7 points and Alex added 5. The boys play the Hillers of Hopkinton on Thursday.

Monday, February 5: 

  • Thanks to all who participated in Trivia Night. It was loads of fun and a HUGE success!! 
  • Specialty Chorus will meet on Tuesday and Thursday as scheduled. Please see Mr. Griffin with conflicts. 
  • Honors Wind Ensemble is canceled today. 5th Grade Select Band will meet tomorrow.
  • Due to a Faculty meeting after school, Drama Club will not meet today. 
  • Attention Math Team members: Practice will be held after school on TUESDAY, not Wednesday, in room 245. If you have any questions please see Miss Buck or Mrs. Briffett. Hope to see you there!

Friday, February 2: 

  • Happy Groundhog Day! Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog has delivered his annual weather prediction. Punxsutawney Phil's handlers announced Friday that he saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. 
  • The boys' basketball team played extremely hard but fell short to Dedham yesterday. Andrew was a standout on defense while Kyle had 6 points and Colin added 7 as well. The girl's team had a very exciting 4th quarter comeback against Dedham but ended up falling short by two points. Kyra hit a big 3 pointer during the comeback. Caite added 5 points and Eni had 6. Mikayla and Allison were standouts on defense. The girls and boys team travel to Wellesley on Monday.  
  • Don't forget that tonight is Trivia Night at the Natick High School Cafeteria! If you haven't registered a team to play then get there by 6:30pm to sign in and have some pizza. We expect all KMS students to be on their best behavior. Poor behavior and/or treating the NHS cafeteria disrespectfully will not be tolerated. Students who do not maintain appropriate behavior will be asked to call their parents to come get them. Also, costumes must be appropriate for a school function and shoes must be worn. Food will be sold at the event - you will not be able to bring food in unless you have a legitimate food allergy. Good luck to all of the players!

 

Thursday, February 1: 

  • Honor's Wind Ensemble is cancelled today. 
  • Tomorrow will be Patriot's Fan Day!! Wear your Patriots gear or colors to help send our home team off to a Superbowl victory!! Not a Pat's fan? Then wear your favorite team gear. 
  • There will be an Interact Club meeting on Tuesday, February 6 after school in Mrs. Meyers room, #112. All are welcome.
  • The Robotics Club is not meeting today. We will meet next week.

Tuesday, January 30: 

  • Attention Math Team Members: Practice will be held after school on Wednesday in room 245. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Buck or Mrs. Briffett. Hope to see you there!
  • Art Club will meet this Thursday after school in the art room. Please sign up on Ms. Kassap's door. There are 20 spaces available. 
  • The Boy's Basketball team lost against a tough Wilson team. Andrew hit a 3 pointer while Brian and Tomer also added two great shots as well. Nick added some great defense. The Girls Basketball also lost a tough battle to Wilson. The offense was led by Caite and Val. Briar and Jessie led the defense, each with several steals. Both teams will take on Dedham at KMS on Thursday, starting at 3:45pm.

  • James and the Giant Peach rehearse today and Thursday as scheduled. All cast members are called. Wednesday we will have an additional rehearsal from 2:05-4:30 pm. All who are available should plan on attending to review songs, choreography and continue staging. See Mr. Lane with any questions. 
  • The Woodworking Club meets today after school. 
  • 5th Grade Select Band will meet today. Jazz Band will meet tomorrow. 
  • We have reached our limit and cannot accept any new registrations. All registered players should have received their confirmations by email. Your confirmation has very important details about the event, so please be sure to read it and share it with a parent. If your parent contact has NOT received a confirmation, then you are NOT registered to play. Please be sure to see Mrs. Lederman in the main office if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest in this fundraiser and we'll see you on Friday!!

Monday, January 29:

  • Students as Readers will meet today at lunch and after school. All students are welcome. Bring your favorite graphic novel to share and discuss. 
  • Congrats to all KMS students who took part in Saturday's MMEA Jr. District Auditions. The following KMS band students were selected for ensemble this year:  Michael, 1st trombone, 2nd chair concert band; Otto 2nd trumpet 7th chair, concert band; and Sarah 2nd flute and chair concert band. Congratulations on a job well done!
  • Honors Wind Ensemble will meet today. 5th Grade Select Band will meet tomorrow. 


Friday, January 26: 

  • The Boys Basketball Team played hard but lost to a skilled Medfield Team yesterday. Jeff hit two great shots for the Cougars and Andrew played terrific defense. The Girls Basketball lost in a tight game yesterday against Medfield. Primah and Allison led an outstanding defense. Both teams will play away against Wilson on Monday -  Come cheer them on!
  • Jr. District Students are reminded that the bus for auditions leaves Wilson tomorrow at 10 am. please arrive no later than 9:45 am. 
  • Honors Wind Ensemble will meet Monday. 
  • KMS Trivia Night Registrations are due today! It's not too late to sign up. Confirmation emails will be sent out over the weekend. 
  • This week, Kennedy students earned a total of 94 ROARs. Keep in ROARing. Congratulations to Quin who received the winning ROAR from Mrs. Hacket. 
  • Students as Readers will meet on Monday at lunch and after school. All students are welcome! Bring your favorite Graphic Novel to share and discuss. 


Thursday, January 25:
 

  • James and the Giant Peach will rehearse today as scheduled. All cast members should attend. We will be working on choreography and all group numbers.  
  • Attention Grade 5 students: There will be an ice cream social being held today after school in the upstairs cafe. Students should bring their signed permission slip and $2.00 to the event in order to participate.
