Welcome!

Natick Public Schools is proud to provide the Gender & Sexuality Resource to our LGBTQ+ students, their families/friends, staff and community. The Gender & Sexuality Resource is designed to connect people in our community with reliable and meaningful LGBTQ+ resources and organizations, both locally and nationally. We hope you will find the information in here useful as you explore and seek answers to questions about the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ+) student community.

We are fortunate to live in a commonwealth and community which have secured a wide range of civil rights and social justice initiatives for the Massachusetts LGBTQ+ community; however, the process of identifying as LGBTQ+ is often a complex – and personal - challenge for students, their families and friends. These challenges can range from understanding information about gender and sexuality, to expressing concerns about safety and support, and/or to developing healthy and happy LGBTQ+ relationships.

To those who are on this journey, this resource will offer evidence that you are not alone. Many courageous individuals and families have answered these questions and met these challenges over the decades since “Stonewall,” the birth of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. Together, they have helped create laws, agencies, organizations and social groups to vigorously support LGBTQ+ students during their school years.

To that end, this resource is meant to provide knowledge, support and connection for all. This resource does not constitute NPS policies but provides on-line links to local and national programs and organizations available to all LGBTQ+ students, their families, allies and teachers. It also strives to give educators the resources and tools necessary to create a warm, inclusive learning environment. We hope that this resource will enrich and strengthen the journey of Natick’s LGBTQ+ students as they become healthy, happy and productive members of the adult LGBTQ+ community - as well as informed and active citizens of Natick and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Again, welcome!

For purposes of this resource, the term LGBTQ+ will be used, however, we recognize that there are members of this community who may identity outside of these terms. All providers, websites and resources referenced here are for informational purposes only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of NPS and should not replace professional, medical or legal advice. Readers should be aware that websites, sources, and terms are constantly evolving and may change before being updated on this site. This site is by no means exhaustive. In addition to the sources researched and documented here, there are many, many more LGBTQ+ sites and organizations that may provide different, valuable and useful information for your needs.

The Gender & Sexuality Resource was funded from an Innovative Care Coordination grant awarded by the Department of Public Health to Natick's School Nurses.
